SUNDAYS -- 9:00 & 10:40 -- theCLOVA
We’ve looked at the Christmas story through lots of different lenses. We’ve looked at it through the various accounts of Jesus’ birth in the gospel accounts. We might say that we’ve looked at Christmas according to Matthew, or Luke, or John. More specifically, we’ve looked at Christmas through the lens of the individuals in those gospel accounts. We might say that we’ve looked at Christmas according to Mary or Joseph or the shepherds, or the wise men, or the angels. We’ve also looked at Christmas through the lens of the Old Testament – the promises specifically related to the coming of the Messiah. We might call that Christmas according to Isaiah, or Micah, or Moses.
This series is a little bit different. We want to explore Christmas According to Jesus. There are five places in the New Testament where Jesus explicitly states the reason for His coming. Those five places are John 18:38; Matthew 5:17; Luke 19:10; Mark 10:45; and John 10:10. Together, those five statements help us understand that Jesus came to reveal, to fulfill, to seek, to rescue, and to give. If you’ve lost your love for Christmas, we hope this series will help you recapture the wonder of why Jesus came.
